Welch designed history wall at CMMC

After the submittal of a variety of research materials provided by a number of Central Maine Community College staff members and students, the Welch Design Team conceptualized and constructed a History Wall to help commemorate the college’s 50th Anniversary.

The project took over three months to complete and measures 60” high and nearly 15½’ long. The wall uses a mix of historical photographs and descriptive text to highlight significant events from the college’s inception in 1964 through present day.

“The wall design took into account budget requirements, as well as the creation of a design that worked well in a contemporary space,” according to Welch Sign Vice President Kathy Davis. “As part of the process of developing a history wall, Welch works closely with clients to facilitate the selection of content material that best tells their story.”

A variety of material was used in the construction of the wall including acrylic, green glass, Chemetal, medium density overlay (MDO) panel, and MBS Standoffs. Photos and images were printed or created with 3M Controltac, Duratex, dusted crystal and clear printable vinyl.

The History Wall was unveiled during a ceremony at CMCC on March 18th as a large group of friends, retirees, alumni and employees looked on.
